¿Ortodoncia o carillas dentales? Cómo decidir sin equivocarseOrthodontics or veneers? How to decide without getting it wrong

  • Mordida abierta, cruzada o profunda.

It is one of the most frequent enquiries: whether to resolve a smile with orthodontics or with dental veneers. They are different treatments that solve different problems, and confusing them has consequences.

The underlying difference

Orthodontics moves teeth into their correct position without touching their structure. Veneers change the shape and colour of the visible surface, but they do not correct the position of the root or the bite.

When to choose orthodontics

  • Visible crowding or rotated teeth.
  • Open, crossed or deep bite.
  • Wide gaps that are better closed by moving teeth.
  • Young patients with healthy teeth.

When to choose veneers

  • Well-aligned but stained or worn teeth.
  • Uneven edges or teeth of disproportionate size.
  • The need for an aesthetic change within a few weeks.

The most frequent combination

In many cases the best solution is sequential: orthodontics first to sort out position, then veneers over the already aligned teeth. That achieves the aesthetic result with the least possible reduction, because the teeth are already where they should be.

How the decision is made

With a complete study: photographs, 3D scanning, facial analysis and bite assessment. Digital design makes it possible to simulate both routes and compare before committing to one.
