Preguntas frecuentesFrequently asked questions

How long do porcelain veneers last?
Between 10 and 15 years, and considerably longer with good habits. Porcelain does not stain or wear down like natural enamel; what determines their lifespan is gum health, control of bruxism and hygiene along the margin between veneer and tooth.
We cover this in detail in caring for your veneers.
Do veneers damage the tooth?
A properly planned veneer requires minimal enamel reduction, often less than half a millimetre, and none at all in favourable cases. Aggressive reduction happens when there was no prior planning: that is why we design and test the result before touching the tooth.
How much do dental veneers cost?
It depends on the number of teeth, the material chosen and the previous condition of the teeth and gums. A case that needs orthodontics or gum treatment first cannot be quoted like one that only needs veneers.
The exact quote comes out of the consultation, once the study is done. The factors involved are explained in what defines the price of veneers.
How many sessions does a smile design take?
The usual sequence is: a study appointment with photographs and scanning, a session to try the design in your mouth, and the placement session. Between the trial and the placement, the laboratory manufactures the definitive pieces.
Can I see the result before we start?
Yes. That is the point of digital smile design: the project is modelled in 3D over your scan, superimposed on your face and then tested in your mouth without any reduction. You decide while seeing the proposed smile on your own face.
Does invisible orthodontics work for every case?
It resolves most mild and moderate crowding, spacing and rotations. Cases with significant skeletal discrepancies or very complex movements may require brackets or a combination of approaches. That is determined by the initial study, not beforehand.
How long does a dental implant take?
The surgery is a single session, but the bone needs three to six months to integrate with the implant before the final crown goes on. A temporary tooth can be worn during that wait. The full process is described in dental implants step by step.
Does whitening damage enamel?
Professional whitening, with the gum isolated and contact time controlled, does not damage enamel. Cold sensitivity for a day or two is expected and reversible. What does cause permanent wear are abrasive home methods: baking soda, lemon or activated charcoal.
Do the treatments hurt?
We use local anaesthesia for every procedure that calls for it, along with protocols for managing discomfort afterwards. The design trial, the scan and whitening need no anaesthesia.
Do you treat patients living abroad?
Yes, they are a significant part of our practice. The assessment starts remotely with guided photographs and video, the plan and quote are sent before the trip, and appointments are grouped to make the most of the days in Asunción. Details in planning treatment from abroad.
